A home in Bajaj, India, has been flooded with electricity as a result of a power outage caused by an electrical malfunction, officials said.
An official at Bajabakt Power and Light Corporation told NDTV that it’s not the first time a home in the town has been affected by power outages caused by power failure in the region.
The power outage was caused by a transformer that failed and went into overdrive.
There was a brief power outage in the area, but the local authorities did not let people use their power for at least 24 hours,” said P. Raj Kumar, spokesman for Bajaja Power and Power Ltd.
The company said there are no injuries in the incident.
The power outage happened around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Kumar said the company is looking into whether or not the transformer had a malfunction and the cause of the power outage.
The utility has already started to repair the transformer, which is about a foot tall and about 30 feet long, Kumar said.
Bajaj is located in the eastern part of the state of Gujarat, about 40 miles from Ahmedabad, India’s second largest city.
The state has an area of about 3,500 square miles and about 60 percent of the population is under the age of 35.
